5 Outdoor Boot Camp Exercises

5 Outdoor Boot Camp Exercises

25 April 2017

At Prestige Boot Camp, we’re always helping our customers with customised weight-loss and fitness plans. Indeed, our weight-loss boot camp retreats are designed for that exact purpose – to give you the skills you need to lose weight and keep it off. Today, we’ve put together five of our favourite outdoor boot camp exercises that you can do from home.

1.Bench hopping

Not all exercises have to be intense – in fact, this one is perfect if you're sitting in the local park or you're relaxing in the comfort of your back garden. Simply sit on the edge of a bench, and jump in the air as high as you can as well as throwing your arms up as you go, before returning to your seat. Do this for sixty seconds, and you'll see improved glutes and quads over time. If you want to make this exercise even more challenging, then lift one of your legs as you return to your seat, and switch legs after sixty seconds for a second round.

2.Go trail running

If you want to boost the number of calories you’ll burn without having to work too hard, then consider trail running – that is, running on uneven terrain. Because of the difficult surfaces, your body will have to work harder every step, increasing the intensity of your jog or run without having to run for too long. You’ll need to find your footing, balance yourself and adjust your pace and intensity as your incline changes. It’s tough, but it works!

3.Jump with a rope

The good old fashioned jump rope may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's an effective way to burn calories wherever you have space. Jump consistency and as quickly as you can, and consider pairing your workout with music if you want to get into a rhythm. Zen Dude Fitness has put together a great workout routine that incorporates jump rope, which you can check out on YouTube. In fact, jump rope with a trainer (or in this case, a YouTube trainer) can increase your flow, motivation and allow you to work harder and for longer.

4.A cardio drill

If you've got the space in your garden, then invest in some cones, netting and other accessories and take part in your own drill. This works best with a group of friends when you can have a personal trainer or fitness instructor to motivate you to work, like the tailor made programmes we offer here at Prestige Boot Camp. Such workouts can be more enjoyable and help you lose weight without feeling like you’re grinding the treadmill.

5.Start squatting

Nobody enjoys squatting, but doing so can deliver great results. Wear comfortable clothing, and then stand with your feet hip-width apart if you want to squat in the best possible way. Make sure you keep your back straight and keep your weight on your heels. Squatting can be tough but aim to repeat the process for between two to five minutes during a workout.
