Top Tips For Staying Fully Focussed On Your Fitness Even On Holiday

31 May 2019

The holiday that you’ve been dreaming of may be fast approaching. You’ve spent hours planning it, and even longer saving for it, right? It’s set to be the perfect trip, full of new experiences - the perfect time to switch off, unwind and disconnect.

As well as a break from work, you may be chasing a little break from your diet, the gym and any usual limitations. However, you really don’t want to ruin the health and body you have strived for, for so long! With this in mind, follow our helpful tips to stay fully focused on your fitness while you’re away.

Bodyweight conditioning

It may be that you’re staying somewhere that is bereft of a gym, and you can’t find one in town. This does not mean that all is lost, and you will be very impressed at the results you can get from bodyweight and HIIT workouts you’re able to do in your hotel room. Press-ups, tricep-dips, squats, ab crunches and leg raises can all help to build muscle and burn calories.

Sight-see in your walking shoes

Rather than using tour operator buses and taxis, put on your trainers and go for a stroll. There really is no better way to take in the joys, scents, and surprises of the cultures that you’re visiting, than on foot. Not only is this the perfect way to stay active, but it will also save you a pretty penny or two.

Navigate the hotel breakfast wisely

Breakfast really is as important as people make out, and we’re all well acquainted with the buffet breakfasts that are often available at hotels. Of course, it can be tempting to pile your plate sky-high and scoff everything in sight. So, make an action plan and pre-empt your choices the night before.

Have fruit salad morning, an egg morning, a pastry morning, and the day after try a traditional local breakfast - this way you will have worked your way around the buffet table over the course of your trip. Indulging as you go – but not overly so!

Hydration is key

Drinking a lot of water is important regardless, however, if you’re somewhere hot, this rings even more true. Generally, you should drink upwards of 1.5 litres of water a day, and should increase this if you’re being active, or if it is hot. Thirst can often be mistaken for hunger so you’re likely to eat more if you’re dehydrated; the likes of watermelon, strawberries and cucumbers are all over 92% water so be sure to choose snacks wisely and this will help to keep water levels up.

However, we all know that it’s not that easy and it can be hard to stay disciplined. And even more so when you’re out of your normal routine. If you have qualms about staying on track when you’re on holiday, consider one of the many fantastic Weight Loss Camps From Prestige Bootcamp. This way, you will have your own meal plan catered exactly to your needs and be working out alongside likeminded people to ensure you remain motivated. Staying fully fitness focussed while on holiday will fast become second nature!
