5 Healthy and Non-Alcoholic Fruit Juice Cocktail Recipes for this Summer

22 May 2017

With the summer months just around the corner, there's never been a better time to learn how to make delicious non-alcoholic cocktails. And, because fruit juice is good for your health, you don't need to feel guilty about having a tasty cocktail while you relax in the sun. Below, we've put together five of our favourites for you to try out.

1.Grape and pineapple fizz

Place half a cup of mint leaves in a pitcher and stir in some grape and pineapple juice that’s been freshly squeezed. Cover the drink and leave it to chill for four hours. Then, strain the mint from the grape and pineapple juice and discard them. Stir some fizzy club soda into the mixture, and pour into ice-filled glasses for a refreshing summery drink – without the guilt!

2.Chocolate banana smoothie

Get a blender and mix a sliced frozen banana, three tablespoons of cocoa powder, a teaspoon of vanilla extract, two tablespoons of honey and two cups of fat-free milk. Blend until the drink is smooth and frothy, and pour into ice-filled glasses with straws. Each batch makes four 250ml drinks, with each drink containing just 120 calories. Yummy.

3.Melon cooler

Melon is the fruit of the summer. Not only is it refreshing and tasty, but it’s also low in calories and can be combined with many different flavours to create delicious drinks. This melon cooler recipe from Diabetic Living Online could not be simpler. Just get a food processor or blender and combine cubes of chilled watermelon or honeydew melon with lime juice. Then press the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve, and serve over ice. Aaah!

4.Cranberry and pear spritzer

This mocktail takes just five minutes to prepare and tastes yummy. You'll need a pear, a cup of cranberries and a litre of kombucha (a fermented black or green tea drink that you’ll be able to find in your local supermarket). Pour kombucha into four glasses, and then add pieces of pear and cranberries alongside some ice. If you want to add some finishing touches, then add a sprig of rosemary or a couple of mint leaves.

5.Grapefruit and rosemary mocktail

Not all mocktails were created equally – and this grapefruit and rosemary concoction is proof! Place of My Taste has put together an easy-to-follow recipe, which involves creating your own rosemary simple syrup by mixing water and syrup with some rosemary sprigs, before adding it to a glass and mixing with freshly-squeezed grapefruit juice. This drink is not only refreshing and pretty to look at it, but it has various health benefits, including giving your immune system a lift, preventing kidney stones and burning fat naturally.
